May Training Camp will offer private or shared inn rooms, RV camping with full hook-ups, and tent camping. Tent campers will share large sites as a group, with 24-hour access to a nearby comfort station. RV sites are close to the tent sites.
All participants, including tent campers, will park for the duration of the event in the parking garage near Spring Mill Inn. Tent campers may drive to the campsites to unload and set up, parking in the garage afterwards.
Massage therapy will be available during the week from Valerie Roderick. Please contact her to confirm rates, and to reserve your sessions prior to camp (email firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 812.240.0344). You can also sign up on a first-come, first-serve basis during the event.
One or more SAG vehicles (depending on enrollment) will be available for support on the route each day. SAG vehicles will offer water, sports drink, snacks, and a small first aid kit. Additional services are available at existing businesses in multiple small communities along each route, such as restaurants, country stores, and filling stations. Riders will be briefed on where to find services the evening before riding each route.
Mechanical support is available at three bike shops in Bloomington, about 45 minutes north of Spring Mill State Park. Hours and contact information will be included in your packet. Participants will be responsible for transporting their bikes to Bloomington for repair. Please note that parts and repairs are not covered by your camp registration fee.
Any type of bicycle in good working condition is welcome. Southern Indiana terrain is rolling to hilly, so be prepared to pace yourself, and be ready for some climbing. You may also bring more than one bike to ride during the event. We find that many people enjoy the lower gears provided by a triple crankset or compact crank.
Plan to carry items you will need during the day's ride, and to eat lunch at a location of your choosing along the route each day. Bicycling helmets are strongly recommended! Make sure they are CPSC approved and properly adjusted to fit your head. Riders must be in good physical condition and trained sufficiently for this event.
