See the June Rally newsletter for pre-event lodging suggestions.
All participants are responsible for paying a one-time entry fee as they drive into each Indiana State Park. The rate is $5.00 for Indiana vehicles, and $7.00 for out-of-state vehicles. Wristbands issued in the rider packets will serve to grant admission to the park when participants are on bicycles.
For participants staying at the inns, showing your room key at the gatehouse will allow you to re-enter the park by car, if needed, after your arrival. Parking is available at or very close to the inns. Campers will be issued one hang tag per vehicle, which will allow them to leave and re-enter the park by car for the duration of the rally without incurring additional fees.
We are providing a section of Spring Mill's primitive campground for tent camping, with special access to a Class A comfort station for the duration of the event. Multiple tents are permitted to share a single site. Parking is permitted on the gravel pads at the campsites reserved for the rally, and a nearby parking lot is also available.
At McCormick's Creek State Park, camping will be in the field adjacent to the pool. Access to the pool house will be available for restrooms & showers during our time at the park. Parking is available in the pool lot. The pool is a short bike ride across the park from Canyon Inn.
At both parks, campers requiring electricity (such as for a CPAP machine) or wishing to camp in an RV will need to reserve and pay for a Class A campsite with an electric hook-up. The cost for a Class A campsite is $19 + tax per night. For reservations, visit http://indianastateparks.reserveamerica.com/ or call 1.866.622.6746.
Massage therapy will be available during the week from Valerie Roderick. Please contact her to confirm rates, and to reserve your sessions prior to TRIRI® (email vwimsett@yahoo.com or phone 812.240.0344). You can also sign up on a first-come, first-serve basis during the event.
SAG vehicles will be available for support on the route each day. Due to route overlap and I-69 construction traffic, we will not offer the option to bike between parks this year. On transition day (Wednesday, June 10), participants will drive to McCormick's Creek State Park and ride a loop from there.
Mechanical support will be provided by our friends in Indianapolis, Circle City Bicycles.
Any type of bicycle in good working condition is welcome. Though most of our participants ride road bikes, many with hybrids, recumbents, trikes, and tandems complete our tours happily. Southern Indiana terrain is rolling to hilly, so be prepared to pace yourself, and be ready for some climbing. We find that many people enjoy the lower gears provided by a triple crankset or compact crank.
Since you will have your car with you during the event, feel free to bring a second bike, such as a tandem or mountain bike. Spring Mill State Park has limited mountain biking available.
Plan to carry items you will need during the day's ride, and to eat lunch at a location of your choosing along the route each day. Bicycling helmets are strongly recommended! Make sure they are CPSC approved and properly adjusted to fit your head. Riders must be in good physical condition and trained sufficiently for this event.
